What is Vodafone One Net?
Vodafone One Net is a hosted PBX based converged communications service, which allows
users to combine fixed and mobile telephony devices into a single profile for managing
and receiving calls. This allows subscribers to ensure that they never miss a call
and benefit from features such as a single bill and a single coordinated voicemail
box across devices.
The One Net service is connected to customer premises through a dedicated Internet
connection, using DSL or Ethernet, and is delivered in parallel to our customers’
existing Internet connectivity, providing a dedicated Voice network to ensure high
quality of service.
Vodafone provide all customer premise equipment required, including:
- A new router to connect to the dedicated voice network
- A new switch to connect the VoIP network to the IP phone terminals
- New IP phone terminals
- Authentication and Configuration: Security is of paramount
importance to Vodafone, thus the first point of access to the Vodafone network is
an authentication platform which ensures that only valid subscribers can connect.
In addition the configuration servers located at this access point are used to automatically
deliver configuration settings and update files to all Vodafone supplied equipment
deployed on a customer premises, including routers and IP phones, allowing us to
deliver new features and functions and remotely manage customer configuration.
- Call Handling: Routing of calls is performed within Vodafone
UK's existing and proven high quality network. Calls placed and received as part
of the One Net service have the same reliable quality of service enjoyed by all
existing mobile subscribers. Vodafone monitor network capacity and voice quality
closely to ensure that calls made on the One Net service are of an equivalent quality
to calls made on a circuit switched (non-IP) network.
- IP Phones: Vodafone supplied IP phones can be connected
directly into existing structured cabling for ease of installation, all of our IP
phones utilise Power over Ethernet, meaning that they derive their power supply
from the Ethernet line itself, removing the need for an additional power supply
to be installed.
- Hosted PBX: This, the heart of the One Net solution, is
located in the core IP based part of Vodafone’s secure network. The solution has
geographic redundancy, meaning that in the unlikely event of a network problem,
supporting systems will kick in to ensure an uninterrupted communications service
for your business.
The Vodafone One Net service complies with all UK regulations regarding Emergency
Call Handling procedures. All calls made to emergency services numbers will be transparently
routed directly to the GSM network, without intervention of the hosted PBX service;
this ensures that all devices will always be able to reach numbers such as 999 without
exception.
